Bestselling author and On Being host Krista Tippet presents…

Becoming Wise:

An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living

Jun 29 - Jul 4, 2025 in Santa Fe, USA
Led by: Krista Tippett, Chip Conley, Robert King, Darby Rose

Reconnect with what it means to be human – and rediscover the abundance of beauty, courage, and grace that life has to offer.

Krista Tippet knows how to ask good questions.

Better yet, she knows how to really listen to people.

As a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and host of the popular NPR radio program and podcast On Being, Krista has interviewed hundreds of extraordinary individuals – scientists, theologians, poets, activists, and many others whose work represents and defines what it means to be human.

Their conversations delve into the mysteries of human existence in all its mess and glory and explore the questions that really matter, such as:

▪ What does it mean to be human?
▪ What really matters in life?
▪ How can we be of service to each other and the world?

What Krista has learned from her many thought-provoking conversations over the years is this: Our world is abundant with beauty and courage and grace.

We have vast riches of knowledge and insight and tools both tangible and spiritual that can help us rise to the challenges of our time.

We have it in us to become wise.

Join Krista Tippett and MEA founder Chip Conley for a powerful inquiry into the mystery and art of living – and learn how to cultivate your own inner wisdom by asking better questions, listening more mindfully, and finding the courage to meet the world where it is – so you can do what you can to make it better.

What you’ll gain

Through transformative discussions and experiential activities, you will learn how to:

  • Ask better questions that yield a deep sense of shared understanding
  • Become more fully present in the moment and listen for wisdom and beauty
  • Reconnect with your sense of shared humanity and cultivate faith in something larger than yourself
  • Find the wonder, courage, and wisdom you seek in the raw materials of everyday life
  • Adopt practical daily disciplines that help you translate aspiration into action
  • Initiate the conversations you most want to be hearing in the world

You will leave feeling energized and inspired by Krista’s grounded and fiercely hopeful vision of humanity – and motivated to show up more fully and be the change you want to see in the world.

Meet your faculty

Krista Tippett

Award-Winning Broadcaster and Bestselling Author

Krista Tippett is a Peabody-award winning broadcaster, National Humanities Medalist, and New York Times bestselling author. She created the groundbreaking public radio show and podcast On Being, which pursues deep thinking, moral imagination, social creativity, and joy towards the renewal of inner life, outer life, and life together. It has won the highest honors in broadcast, Internet and podcasting, and been downloaded over 450 million times.

The On Being Project, which Krista founded in 2013, also engages “quiet conversations” to accompany the generative people and possibilities within this tender, tumultuous time to be alive.

In 2014, she received the National Humanities Medal at the White House for "thoughtfully delving into the mysteries of human existence. On air and in print, Ms. Tippett avoids easy answers, embracing complexity and inviting people of every background to join her conversation about faith, ethics, and moral wisdom."

Krista grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, attended Brown University, worked as a young journalist and diplomat in Cold War Berlin, and later received a Master of Divinity from Yale. She is the author of three books, most recently Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living.

As an artist, Robert continuously seeks new ways to express himself, utilizing the natural resources found in the surrounding landscape. After a long stint in Marfa, TX, the vast, mountainous horizons and monsoons of New Mexico captured her. This travelers life has built in Darby a deep curiosity and compassion for others, and a gratitude for the beautiful complexities of the human condition, with its myriad expressions of love, humor, struggle and strength.

“Wisdom leavens intelligence, ennobles consciousness, and advances evolution itself.”
– Krista Tippett

The discourse of our time may incline toward despair – but the constant onslaught of catastrophe-obsessed “news” doesn’t begin to capture the full truth of our reality. Our world is abundant with beauty and courage and grace. Science and spirituality are evolving to reveal a radical new understanding of the nature of human vitality and wholeness.

And when you open yourself to possibility, you will find boundless reasons to nurture hope for our shared future.

Are you ready to spend five unforgettable days with Krista and Chip exploring the mystery and art of living well?

People come for the workshops,
but they stay for the community

This is truly MEA’s “secret sauce” and something you can only experience in person: the powerful connections you will make, not only with your fellow participants and the incredible MEA faculty, but also the deeper sense of connection you will feel to your own inner self and the natural world around you.

Research into aging shows that your relationships play a HUGE role in your health and wellbeing later in life. At MEA, you will make deep and lasting connections and become part of a larger community that will make your life richer and more meaningful.

Many of our alumni cohorts have stayed in close touch for years after their workshop and we have a growing number of local alumni chapters all over the world. It’s a joy for us to see them continuing to offer each other community, friendship, and support as they create thriving midlives for themselves. So if you have been feeling at all disconnected or isolated on your journey, we would love to have you join us!
