Reject Cultural Norms Around Aging and Say Yes to Your Next Big Adventure in Life or Business

According to a Harvard study, the average age of a successful start-up founder is 40 – and research suggests that a 60-year-old is three times more likely to succeed than a 30-year-old.

Ray Croc created McDonalds at the age of 52. Ariana Huffington was 55 when she created the Huffington Post. Warren Buffet made 99% of his wealth after he turned 60. Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Harlan Sanders was 62.

Yet conventional thinking would have you believe that midlife is a time when you’re supposed to play it safe or pack it in – when really there is no better time to start that “thing” you’ve been dreaming about doing.

You have more knowledge and lived experience than you’ve ever had. You have more financial security and cash at your disposal. And you have more resources and people in your address book who can support you in achieving your goals.

So if you’ve been dreaming of developing that business idea… writing that book or creating that piece of art… or learning that new skill and seeing where it takes you… now is the best time to start!

In this Cultivating Purpose workshop co-facilitated with seasoned entrepreneur and CADDIS Eyewear founder Tim Parr, you will crush ageist stereotypes and develop the beginner’s mind necessary to embark on your next awesome adventure in your life or business.

What You’ll Gain

Through a combination of our MEA Cultivating Purpose curriculum and experiential activities with Tim Parr, you will:

  • Reframe aging as a time for exploration, adventure, and growth in your life and/or business
  • Adopt a “punk as hell” attitude toward embracing the awesome opportunities of getting older
  • Develop a flexible beginner’s mind that makes it easier to learn new ways of thinking and doing things
  • Explore entrepreneurial pattern recognition and cultivate the ability to identify potential growth opportunities
  • Evolve beyond a “courage or fear” mindset and move forward through curiosity and strategic risk-taking
  • Discover why the phrase, “I have this great idea, but promise that you won’t tell anyone” is a huge red flag

You will leave feeling energized and inspired to delve into your interests and ideas and will be excited to take your next steps toward making your “next big thing” a reality!

Meet Your Faculty

Tim Parr
CEO and Founder of CADDIS Eyewear

Entrepreneur | Startup Founder | CEO | Creative Director | Brand Strategist

Tim Parr is the CEO and Founder of CADDIS, an eyewear brand that crushes age stereotypes. He believes in defying our society’s addiction to youth and fueling getting older and owning it.

Tim got his start as an entrepreneur when he founded Swobo, a California action sports clothing company that expanded into a bike company. After that he worked for some of the world’s most respected brands, such as Patagonia, L.L. Bean, Filson, and many more. He has lectured at the Stanford School of Design, Modern Elder Academy, San Francisco Academy of Art, and the California College of Arts.

In 2013, he formed a bluegrass band and hit the road touring the Western United States – despite not knowing how to play the guitar. He has made a successful life out of defying norms and expectations and exploring opportunities based on his interests and instincts rather than what mainstream thinking would have us believe is the “proper” way to do things.

Now he’d like you to understand how awesome your life can be when you embrace possibility and “do the thing” you have been dreaming about doing.

This workshop is for you if...

You’re the kind of person who has always danced to your own beat and rejects default adherence to mainstream “wisdom”

You’re excited to move beyond cultural norms around aging and adopt a beginner’s mindset to optimize learning and growth

You’re thinking about embarking on a new life or business project but aren’t sure how to get started

You’re interested in learning how to recognize entrepreneurial patterns and identify opportunities that merit exploration

You dream of doing something completely different and need to create a next-steps roadmap for making it happen

You are excited to evolve beyond the limited thinking of “playing it safe” to discover how awesome your life can be

You have so much potential that is waiting to be unleashed – and you have so many resources at your disposal to make your life and business dreams a reality!

People Come for the Workshops,
But They Stay for the Community

This is truly MEA’s “secret sauce” and something you can only experience in person: the powerful connections you will make, not only with your fellow participants and the incredible MEA faculty, but also the deeper sense of connection you will feel to your own inner self and the natural world around you.

Research into aging shows that your relationships play a HUGE role in your health and longevity. At MEA, you'll make deep and lasting connections, becoming part of a larger community that will make your life richer and more meaningful.

Our alumni cohorts stay in close touch after their workshop and we have a growing number of local alumni chapters all over the world.

It’s a joy for us to see them continuing to offer each other community, friendship, and support as they create thriving midlives for themselves. So if you have been feeling at all disconnected or isolated on your journey, we would love to have you join us!
