How do you find the courage and commitment to do something completely different with your life?
When you’re standing on the precipice of everything you’ve ever known, how do you find the confidence to step away from that life and take a game-changing leap into unfamiliar territory?
Award-winning documentary filmmaker, television commercial director, successful entrepreneur and professional skateboarding pioneer Stacy Peralta knows something about that.
He understands exactly what it’s like to stand on the precipice and psych yourself up to push away from the brink and go into the drop.
He’s mastered the art of falling and getting back up again – over and over. (And over.)
AND he knows that it’s only by taking the plunge that you’re able to discover what you’re capable of achieving – and who you’re capable of becoming in the process.
This is what empowered him to become the highest-ranked professional skateboarder at age 19 and parlay that experience into co-founding one of the most successful skateboarding brands in the world – and then parlay THAT experience into becoming an award-winning documentary filmmaker, screenplay writer, and visual artist.
And it’s what he would love to help you unlock within yourself during his upcoming workshop at our campus in Baja.
Join Stacy - along with MEA’s own Head of Mindfulness and Bones Brigader Teddi Dean with Therese O’Neil as Content Facilitator as they unlock your own ability to reinvent yourself and create the new life you have been longing for.
What you’ll gain
Through a series of powerful experiential activities, self-reflection, and discussion, Stacy, Teddi, and Christine will help you:
By the end of your five days with Stacy, Teddi, and Christine, you will have a clear vision for the new reality you’ll be eager to embrace – and will feel empowered, energized, and capable of handling whatever unexpected obstacles you encounter on your journey.
Meet your faculty
Stacy Peralta
Skateboarding Pioneer | Surfer | Entrepreneur | Award-Winning Filmmaker
Stacy Peralta is a seasoned expert at radical transitions. Throughout his life he has followed his passions to see where they might lead him and worn many different hats in the process.
Stacy got his start with the Zephyr Competition Team – a group of skateboarders also known as the Z-Boys, from Venice, California. After becoming the highest-ranked professional skateboarder at the age of 19, he partnered with George Powell to form the company Powell-Peralta, which became one of the most successful skateboard brands of the 1980s.
Stacy went on to form the legendary Bones Brigade team, which included some of the world’s best skaters at the time, many of whom revolutionized the sport of modern skateboarding. He directed and produced the first-ever skate video, the Bones Brigade Video Show, and appeared in the 80s classic movie, Real Genius.
After that he went on to produce several award-winning documentaries about skateboarding, surfing, and gang violence in Los Angeles, and also wrote the screenplay for the 2005 movie, The Lords of Dogtown. Most recently, he just had his first art show of photography and paintings.
He looks forward to being a student with you as much as a teacher during this transformative week together.
