The name of today’s post mirrors Anthea Pretorius’ poetry book that was published last year. She says, "Sometimes these short poems can be very thought provoking. I often say that a haiku is an unfinished poem. I start the story and tell only a fragment and the reader completes the story in their imaginations."

Let your imagination run wild as you experience these five haikus from Anthea.

are human hearts not islands
seeking oceans to tenderly
hold them

2.
occupy the full
richness of our own story
or perish unfulfilled

3.
unity is in
all things: man, animals, plants
one Breath binds us all

4.
impermanence the
tender transiency of things
make moments matter

5.
where gratitude is
lacking; impoverished is
man’s spirit and glum

Anthea Pretorius holds a Master’s in Publishing from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She is inspired by nature, silence, music, art and architecture; by misty days, rainy nights, myths, movies and the Milky Way.
