A brain-and-body approach to finding steadiness, relief, and a way forward after life-altering loss.
When you lose someone – or something – that shaped your life, finding your footing again takes time.
You might be grieving the person you still reach for your phone to call. The marriage you thought would last. The body you trusted before a diagnosis. Or the job, home, and future you counted on.
No matter what you lost or how much time has passed, grief still finds a way to catch you off guard.
Join trauma therapist Meghan Riordan Jarvis in Santa Fe for a powerful three-day exploration of how to mitigate the impact of loss on your mind, body, and heart.
You’ll leave with a personalized grief practice rooted in what soothes, strengthens, and steadies you, so you can move forward with more clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
A working ranch in the New Mexico high desert
Just outside Santa Fe, Rising Circle Ranch gives you nearly 2,600 acres of high desert, wide-open sky, and an unhurried place to think, rest, and reconnect. Between sessions, walk the trails, settle into a shady courtyard with a book, or take in the mountain views with a cold drink. Share chef-prepared meals with fellow participants, linger over fireside conversations, and end the day beneath a sky crowded with stars.
The Experience
Meghan Riordan Jarvis has spent over 20 years guiding people through grief—not just as a clinical trauma therapist, but as someone who knows the weight of catastrophic loss firsthand.
She understands that talk therapy alone tends to fall short when your nervous system is stuck on high alert.
Over three days, Meghan will help you understand why grief can hit you months or years after the funeral, the divorce papers, the diagnosis, or the sudden change. You’ll explore what’s happening when your chest tightens out of nowhere, your mind starts looping, or an ordinary day knocks the wind out of you.
You’ll give your nervous system a chance to rest and learn how to steady yourself when the waves hit, surrounded by a small group of people who truly understand because they’re navigating it themselves.
What You’ll Leave With
- Meghan’s 6-part Grief M.E.N.T.O.R. Method™ for knowing what to do when loss catches you off guard, whether that’s awake at 3:00 a.m., on a hard anniversary, or standing in the grocery aisle
- Real, body-based ways to calm your nervous system when your chest gets tight, your mind starts racing, or you feel completely numb.
- Somatic practices, gentle movement, and restorative rest that give your body relief when talking about your grief simply isn't enough.
- Space to grieve the losses other people overlook—a changed body, a quiet house after divorce, a career cut short, or the life you thought you’d be living.
- Practical ways to carry your loss forward without pretending you’re over it, rushing yourself, or feeling like you have to have it all together.
- Find connection with others living through their own losses, in a space where you can be honest, take your time, and show up exactly as you are.

Who This Isn’t for
- You’re looking for individual therapy, crisis intervention, or treatment for an acute mental-health concern.
- You want something that promises to remove grief, provide closure, or help you “get over” your loss on a set timeline.

- You aren’t currently able to take part in a small-group learning environment where others may share their experiences of loss.
- You need a highly structured lecture-only programme with fixed answers, rather than a personal, participant-led process.

What Makes This Experience Unique
- Meghan’s work is grounded in over 25 years of clinical and somatic work with grief and trauma. She brings evidence-informed education, clear language, and usable practices to an experience many people have been left to navigate on their own.
- Her six-part Grief M.E.N.T.O.R. Method™ gives you a framework for understanding what grief is asking of you, without telling you how long it should take or what healing should look like.
- Grief support that includes the body. Look beyond insight and conversation alone to explore how grief can affect sleep, energy, attention, and overwhelm, and what helps in those moments.
- No pressure to tell your whole story. This is a small, carefully held group. Share what feels right, listen closely, write, reflect, and take part without having to perform.
- Between sessions, return to your own comfortable room, share meals prepared from local ingredients, walk the ranch, or sit beneath the expansive Santa Fe sky. Everything is designed to make you feel cared for.
- A setting that supports the work. The MEA team takes care of the logistics, from lodging and meals to the details of your stay, so you can arrive, exhale, and give your attention to yourself.

Is a partial scholarship for you?
We believe in making personal growth and education accessible to everyone, which is why we offer partial scholarships on a needs-aware basis for many of our programs.
These scholarships support individuals facing financial challenges, including — but not limited to — members of underrepresented communities. If financial stress might prevent you from attending a workshop, we encourage you to apply.

Frequently Asked Questions
You may be wondering what it looks like to spend four days turning a hunch, a want, or a long-postponed possibility into words you can live by. How much you need to have figured out before you arrive. How personal the work gets. Whether there’s room to rest, wander, and let the whole thing sink in. Here’s what to know about The Action Brief.
Do I need to have experienced a recent loss to attend?
No. You may be grieving a recent death, divorce, diagnosis, move, retirement, or other major change. Or you may be living with a loss that happened years ago and still affects you. There is no “right” timeline for grief, and you do not need to arrive with a neat explanation of what you are grieving.
What kinds of loss are welcome here?
This intensive welcomes both death and non-death losses, including the end of a relationship, changes in health or mobility, career transitions, retirement, empty nesting, caregiving changes, moves, identity shifts, and futures that did not unfold as expected. If something important in your life has changed and you are feeling its impact, this workshop is for you.
Is this a therapy group?
Although Meghan Riordan Jarvis is a licensed trauma therapist, this is an educational and experiential workshop, not group therapy or clinical treatment. You will explore trauma-informed concepts, guided practices, and practical tools for living with loss. If you need crisis care, individual therapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment, we encourage you to seek support from an appropriate licensed provider.
Will I have to share my grief with the group?
Sharing is always an invitation, never a requirement. You are welcome to speak about your experience, listen to others, write privately, or take time to reflect. You will never be asked to tell your whole story, compare your loss to anyone else’s, or disclose more than feels right.
What will we actually do during the intensive?
Over three days, you will learn from Meghan, explore elements of her Grief M.E.N.T.O.R. Method™, and try gentle practices designed to support regulation, reflection, and self-care. Expect a mix of facilitated sessions, individual reflection, optional small-group conversation, movement or restorative practices, shared meals, and time to rest or be outdoors.
I’ve talked about my grief before. How is this different?
Talking can be helpful, but grief often affects more than thoughts and emotions. This intensive also explores what happens in the body and nervous system, including overwhelm, fatigue, numbness, disrupted sleep, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. You will have opportunities to identify the practices, rhythms, and forms of support that help you feel more resourced in everyday life.
What if I’m not a “group person”?
Many people feel uncertain about group experiences, especially when grief is involved. This is intentionally a small, pressure-free gathering. You can take part at your own pace, choose what you share, and make use of quiet time as you need it. The goal is not to perform vulnerability. It is to have support while you explore what may help.
What's included in the investment?
Everything you need for four transformative days: all workshop sessions and materials, luxury accommodations at Rising Circle Ranch, chef-prepared gourmet meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), snacks and beverages throughout the day, and access to the ranch’s 2,600 acres of stunning high desert. The only additional costs are your travel to Santa Fe and any personal expenses. Horseback riding is available as an optional add-on.
