Extra Innings.

September 13, 2020
Five innings. Psychologically speaking, that’s about how long most people think their life will last. No seventh-inning stretch. No bottom of the ninth. No extra innings. No walk-off home run.

Five months is also about how long most people thought we’d be inconvenienced by COVID-19. Boy, were we wrong!

The sad truth is this: we’re terminally bad at predicting the future. Our solution is easy? We can stop predicting (and expecting) and start living. The more we focus on this moment, the less fixated we become about the future and the more momentous our lives will become.
