Our 2026

Summer Immersion Series

Slip away to our oceanside campus this summer for a restorative stay designed to recharge your creativity, vitality, and sense of connection.

Session 1: July 15–Sept 4
Session 2: Sept 11–Oct 4

Both sessions follow the same easygoing rhythm — come for a few nights or settle in for a few weeks, whenever it works for you.

As seen in:

Summer in Baja is magical. The desert turns greener, the ocean warms, and life settles into a gentler rhythm — an invitation to step off the treadmill and sink into something slower, richer, and entirely your own.

How your Summer Immersion in Baja works.

First, choose your window:
Session 1 runs July 15–September 4
Session 2 runs September 11–October 4

Stay for a long weekend or linger for weeks — the pace is yours to set.

While you're here, your days might include writing sessions, Spanish class, movement, art, and long stretches of doing absolutely nothing at all.

Immerse yourself in three pathways  join one, explore all, or follow your own flow.

1

Take a writing sabbatical

Find the solitude and focus you need to bring your story to life — whether it’s a memoir, novel, or personal exploration through words. This is your time to finally finish that first (or second) draft, or make real progress on the project that’s been calling you.

You’ll also have plenty of chances to gather with fellow writers, dive into rich conversations, trade ideas, and get feedback that sparks fresh inspiration during communal meals and informal gatherings.

2

Brush up on your Spanish

Hone your ability to hablar español in fun, engaging classes with local teachers who tailor lessons to your needs, interests, and level.

Sessions may include guided excursions to local shops and venues so you can soak up the culture and practice Spanish in real-world settings.

3

Boost your energy & vitality

Use this summer to reconnect with your body through simple, powerful practices that support vitality, resilience, and longevity.

Through guided sessions, you’ll explore bodily awareness, breathwork for nervous system regulation, and foundational practices that support metabolic health, balance, mobility, proprioception, and grip strength.

If you join us between July 19 and August 5, you’ll also have the chance to work with renowned Pilates and movement educator Tom McCook, whose sessions focus on moving with greater strength, ease, and awareness to support long-term health.

Plenty of opportunities for gathering & connection each day
Structured conversations based on MEA curriculum
Mindfulness and movement sessions that bring clarity and insight
Creativity-sparking art sessions that inspire and delight
Opportunities for adventure tailored to your interests
Delicious communal meals with your fellow participants

Design your days, your way.

Build your own rhythm here. Join every activity or keep things spacious — early mornings, slow starts, deep dives, or just what truly calls to you.

The only non‑negotiable we recommend is showing up for meals, where you’ll savor delicious food, meet remarkable people, and sink into the kind of conversations that stay with you.

Why guests love their time here

MEA Refresh was not what I expected but exactly what I needed. Each day brought a new surprise and challenged me to go outside of my comfort zone. The caliber of the people I met opened discussions that enriched my life. All of it was magical.
– Susan Chritton

It's the most beautiful campus. From oceanside yoga to fresh smoothies. I felt at home with all my needs met and like a tourist with new discoveries every day. Makes me want to visit regularly, or to live there.
– Ellen Kiss

Spanish Language Focus

Hone your Spanish-speaking skills while immersed in local culture

Sharpen your Spanish through engaging lessons with local teachers who bring the language to life through real-world connection and cultural exploration. You’ll build conversational confidence in dynamic, interactive classes that weave in the traditions, expressions, and everyday life of Baja.

Whether you’re just beginning or looking to advance, this immersion offers personalized support and a chance to make improving your Spanish a meaningful part of your summer.

Health & Vitality Focus

Improve your life through better movement with renowned Pilates instructor, Tom McCook

How we move our bodies shapes how strong, mobile, and resilient we feel as we age. Decades of poor patterns and posture can wear down joints and muscles, leading to pain and limitations that quietly shrink your world.

The good news: it doesn’t take hours in the gym or punishing workouts to feel better. By learning to move more mindfully and efficiently, you can build strength, ease, and flexibility that last.

Join us between July 19 and August 5 to work with Pilates and movement educator Tom McCook, whose sessions focus on helping you move with greater strength, ease, and awareness to support long-term health and vitality.

Meet your instructor

Tom McCook

Tom McCook has spent 40 years designing health and life performance programs for a range of clients, from Silicon Valley executives and Olympic athletes, to active seniors and people looking for solutions to their imbalances and injuries.

His mission is to improve people’s lives through movement. He teaches a practical and accessible way to understand your own body and then apply it to your movement practice. These skills go beyond exercise to cultivate health, body wisdom, and being responsive and resilient in life.

Tom’s unique teaching approach synthesizes over 35 years of fitness training, Pilates, body therapy, Somatic Coaching, the Franklin Method, Anatomy in Motion and meditation. He is on the faculty of Balanced Body for Pilates, CoreAlign and the Bodhi Suspension System. Tom is also a sought-after international presenter and mentor.

Writing sessions throughout the summer in partnership with Abre Tu Boca

Amanda Fisher

Amanda Aileen Fisher is an interdisciplinary social practice artist and writer who is drawn to the power of language in creating and reconstructing “realities.” Her work heavily explores perspective as a shape-shifter and how it can be used to access – and recode – the individual interior landscape, and thread by thread, the collective one. She served as co-director of Colectivo El Nido, a community arts and cultural space, and is the founder of the Todos-Santos-based project Abre Tu Boca, where she has built a community of writers, supporting them to find and flex the power of word and voice. Her social practice and white box gallery projects have been shared and shown in Los Angeles, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. See more of Amanda’s work at amandaaileenfisher.com and abretuboca.org.

Nica Celly

An artist by degree and entrepreneur by experience, Nica utilizes the power of written language to transmute the abstract into the actual. She holds an MFA from California College of the Arts, a BA from Gallatin at NYU, and has been the recipient of numerous fellowships and residencies. Existing on the knife's edge of disruptive business and contemplative practices, she collaborates with motivated founders for roots-up business builds, holistic branding, design strategy, and meaningful communications. With a focus on creating clarity for purpose-driven projects, she is proud to have worked with brilliant minds in social justice, design, music, art, yoga, and regenerative agriculture.

Daniela Fabián Orozco

As a first-generation Mexican with Colombian and Guatemalan heritage, and time spent living in the United States, Daniela is not only fully bilingual, but also culturally fluent in the subtleties of cross-cultural communication. As a translator, Daniela brings a mastery of tone, slang, colloquial expression, and subcultural connotation to their work, going beyond the literal to convey essence. Daniela has translated in literature, art, and education and can bring clarity to any sized text. However, Daniela’s specialty is in purpose-driven work — such as developing bilingual brand voices for cross-cultural businesses — where she transforms language to authentically reflect the audience’s cultural framework.

Artist in Residence

July 15 - September 4

Yasmine is a highly skilled art teacher and executive coach with a 25-year background developing and running an award-winning art school for students aged 4 to 84.

She will help you tap into your productive energy and encourage you to express yourself on your own terms as you visualize opportunities for change. You will be stimulated to harness your imagination in an atmosphere of positive reinforcement while you connect more deeply with the flow of creativity naturally embedded within you.
