What is a “Confidante” in MEA lingo?

Traditional Definition: “a person with whom one shares a secret or private matter, trusting them not to repeat it to others.” But in the MEA world, we define it as “a person who inspires confidence in you.”

During my time at Airbnb, I started realizing the incalculable power of simultaneously keeping confidences, while also inspiring self-confidence; of being both a trusted ear as well as a “permissionary.” A modern elder can give younger co-workers the capacity, courage, and permission to truly “go for it” along with a potential roadmap for how to effectively meet their goals.

The modern workplace could use more “confidantes,” right? Here’s a few video thoughts from me.
