Retirement Planning for Two: Creating Your Shared Vision
Is a partial scholarship for you?
We believe in making personal growth and education accessible to everyone, which is why we offer partial scholarships on a needs-aware basis for many of our programs.
These scholarships support individuals facing financial challenges, including — but not limited to — members of underrepresented communities. If financial stress might prevent you from attending a workshop, we encourage you to apply.
Partial scholarships, provided through the Association for Growth and Education, are limited to 2–3 seats per workshop and reviewed in the order received. We recommend applying as soon as possible, as scholarship decisions are typically confirmed 90–120 days before the workshop date.

Retirement isn't just leaving work behind. It's stepping into a completely new way of being together—and most couples aren't prepared for that shift.
What's meant to be freedom often brings friction, uncertainty, and emotional whiplash, especially when one partner is ready to slow down and the other isn't. You're stepping into a new identity, rhythm, and way of being together.
Most couples don't talk about this until they're already in it.
This workshop is for couples who are newly retired or a few years away from it and find themselves out of sync about what retirement should look like—feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what comes next.
You don't have to navigate this alone.
Join retirement transition experts Bob and Amie Laura—a married couple who've guided hundreds of couples through this transition as certified retirement coaches. They understand the challenges you're facing because they've lived it themselves.
In this 3-day deep dive, you will:
You'll leave aligned, energized, and ready to move forward with clarity—together.
"If you're good at working, you're probably not good at retiring. It takes practice, reflection, and support. That's what we offer."

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is designed for couples navigating retirement—whether you’re one to five years away, recently retired, or feeling stuck a few years in. It’s ideal for partners who want to plan more intentionally, communicate more clearly, and realign around what life after work can look like.
Do we both need to be retired (or retiring) to attend?
Not at all. Many couples come with one partner still working and the other already retired. This dynamic can create tension and confusion—which is exactly what this workshop is designed to help you navigate.
What if we have different visions for retirement?
That’s actually one of the most common reasons couples attend. We’ll guide you through structured conversations and exercises to help clarify your individual goals and co-create a shared path forward without compromising who you are.
Will we be working only as a couple the whole time?
No. The workshop includes both individual reflection and joint work. We often start with individual exercises so each person can explore their own identity, needs, and values before coming back together to align.
We’re doing fine—do we really need this?
Even couples with strong relationships can drift apart during retirement if they don’t talk about expectations, roles, or purpose. Think of this as a proactive tune-up for one of life’s biggest transitions.
Is this mostly about financial planning?
No. While money may come up in conversation, this workshop is focused on the emotional, relational, and purpose-driven aspects of retirement—the parts most people overlook and struggle with.
What exactly will we walk away with?
You’ll leave with a personalized Rejuvenation Plan for the next 12 to 18 months, a deeper understanding of your partner’s needs and vision, and tools to communicate more effectively about what matters most.
Is this just for couples? Can I come alone?
This workshop is specifically structured for couples. If you’re navigating retirement solo, we recommend looking at other MEA offerings that focus on individual life design and transition.
What’s included in the tuition?
All programming, three nights of lodging, chef-prepared meals, drinks, snacks, and full access to MEA’s world-class Santa Fe campus are included. The only extra costs are travel to Santa Fe and personal purchases.
What if we’re not sure this is the right time?
If retirement is on your radar within the next few years, now is the right time. Feel free to book a call with our team below, and we’ll help you decide if this workshop fits your timing and goals.
