A Week in Baja: From “Liminescence” to Luminescence.

To be liminal is to be human. Whether we admit it or not, we are in a constant state of evolution and transition. Father Richard Rohr says it is a “graced” time, but it often doesn’t feel like grace because it may force us out of our comfort. The Latin word “limen” means “threshold,” which can be scary if we don’t know where this threshold leads.

Fortunately, we’re most open to life’s greatest lessons when we’re liminal, partly because we’re most humbled. It’s easy to sleepwalk when we’re in our default mode, but when our house ends up in a tornado and lands in Munchkinland, all we can do is follow the yellow brick road.

Hopefully, your yellow brick road will bring you to MEA, as we’re quite purposeful in welcoming people during their “liminescence.” We recognize that most of the work of authentic human growth happens in a liminal space. But, by the end of your workshop week, your limen will turn to lumen, and you’ll be amazed by the radiance that you and your cohort will be emitting.
