Old Soul, Young Spirit.

February 2, 2023
“Never have I enjoyed youth so thoroughly as I have in my old age...Nothing is inherently and invincibly young except spirit. And spirit can enter a human being perhaps better in the quiet of old age and dwell there more undisturbed than in the turmoil of adventure.” - George Santanaya

What is the difference between a soul and a spirit? I’d love your perspective on this, especially for those who’ve studied theology or philosophy. My own POV is that each soul is different, and you’re incarnated with it, but it also develops throughout your lifetime based on your lived experience. So, an old soul would be someone who has brought wisdom into this life and has developed a deeper connection with oneself along the way.

On the other hand, the spirit is our connection with the divine outside of ourselves, whether God, Allah, Mother Nature, Science and Truth, or whatever belief system guides us. To have a young spirit means that we aren’t jaded by the reality and harshness of life. We’re still wide-eyed and awe-struck by the miraculous, inspired, and influenced by the mystical and unexplainable.

How can your old soul and young spirit find time for an ecstatic dance today, even if it lasts just as long as your favorite song?
