- Something that EXCITES you: passion is a great fuel for purpose
- Something that AGITATES you: Reed Hastings started Netflix because he was pissed off at Blockbuster Video’s late charges
- Something that makes you CURIOUS: as a Burning Man board member, I was curious why in-person festivals of all kinds were proliferating as we were becoming more digital which led me to creating a website with an annual list of the 300 best festivals in the world
- Something that feels NEGLECTED from earlier in one’s life: like the litigator who’d forgotten that she loved cooking pies with her grandma, but didn’t feel becoming a pastry chef would be a practical career, yet after a trip to MEA, she became a bakery entrepreneur
After lovingly curating MEA’s first Film Fest this past December, I realized I’d rediscovered a purpose that had been neglected. When I was 25, I wrote a screenplay “Fourplay” after a year-long screenwriting intensive program, but I didn’t do anything with it as I was about to launch my boutique hotel company. As I’ve been developing the twice-as-big program (35 films) for the second annual MEA Film Fest Dec 15-20 in Santa Fe, the process of talking with all kinds of filmmakers and actors has me so jazzed as their passion for their films is contagious. At this point, I have at least 15 film industry folks coming to talk about their films and this art form so it’s going to be quite a week.
Hope you can join us. We’ll have the popcorn waiting for you.
