Want to Age Faster? Worry About Aging.

April 8, 2026
.

I wish I were making this up, but a new study (Chip, you geek…where do you find all these studies?) says: the more you stress about getting older, the faster you may actually age. Yes, really. Your anxiety is basically a fast-forward button.

Researchers looked at hundreds of women and found that those who worried more—especially about their future health—showed signs of faster biological aging at the cellular level.

Translation: your thoughts are apparently exfoliating your DNA.

Even more ironic? Worrying about wrinkles didn’t matter much. Worrying about your health did. So vanity won’t age you faster… but WebMD at 2 a.m. might.

This creates a bit of a dilemma.

You wake up, feel a random ache, and think: “Is this aging?”

And now, thanks to science, the correct answer is: “Yes—and worrying about it is making it worse.”

Fantastic.

The deeper insight here is actually kind of profound (and mildly annoying): your mindset isn’t just influencing how you feel about aging—it may be influencing how you physically age.

So the anti-aging strategy of the future might be less about serums and more about… calming down.

Which is inconvenient, because if you’re like me, midlife is when you finally have enough life experience to know what could go wrong.

But maybe the real flex isn’t trying to stay young. It’s refusing to let your fear run the show.

Because apparently, the best longevity hack isn’t biohacking.

It’s chill.
