“What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?”

What was on your list when you were 10?

The horse in The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse said it wanted to be “kind” when it grew up. At 62, when I consider growing up, I want to be a “mensch,” someone who deeply believes in the Erik Erikson sentence, “I am what survives me.” 

In a world where we can be anything, why not aspire to be a mensch when we grow up? Filmmaker Samuel Goldwyn said, “The true test of a mensch is how they treat someone who can do them absolutely no good.”
