The Original OG.
Long before ICE T popularized the “Original Gangster,” the world was blessed with another OG: Old-Growth forests. MEA alum Douglas Tsoi sent me this bumper sticker from Portland, heralding the verdant green regions that populate his state.
As any Oregonian will tell you, an old-growth forest creates a healthy ecosystem of diverse trees and animals that flourish in the multi-layered canopies.
Part of the reason we created MEA was to offer “old growth” in an “old school.” When properly valued, a modern elder can provide a healthy ecosystem of curiosity and wisdom for all the community's younger saplings. And, of course, the deeply connected root systems support and strengthen each other.
How will you nurture your old growth in a way that supports those around you?
