Again and again, we hear it:

I loved my week at MEA. I'd love to live like this year-round.

What is
MEA Homes?

Whether it's a Golden Girls–style shared rental home (a new category that is often called "Boommate Homes" and what MEA calls "SageHouses" and "ChrysalisHouses"), a vacation home that doubles as a micro-community, a regenerative village built around a farm and purpose, or fractional ownership homes that provide the freedom of part-time living with full-time community, MEA Homes offer something increasingly rare: a sense of being held by place and people.

Midlife—and the stages that follow—invite us to rethink how we want to live. Not isolated in single-family silos, but supported by circles of friendship, mutual care, and meaningful rituals. MEA Homes create environments where curiosity stays alive, where neighbors become companions, and where shared meals, sunset walks, and spontaneous laughter are part of the daily rhythm.

These are not just homes; they're habitats for growth, connection, and modern elderhood. Spaces where wisdom is exchanged across dinner tables at potlucks, where group beach and desert walks are part of your weekly ritual, and where belonging isn't a perk—it's the foundation.

MEA offers many ways to experience that feeling year-round. Because home shouldn't just be where you sleep. It should be where you come alive.

Here are the various ways you can experience MEA Homes:

All of this happens nearby our two MEA campuses in Baja and Santa Fe, so there are all kinds of amenities and benefits that come from that proximity.

SageHouses & ChrysalisHouses

Rental homes in Eldorado and Lamy (3-6 bedroom homes within 10-15 minutes of the ranch campus)

With ⅔ of all single people over 55 in the U.S. being women and a growing societal loneliness, it's time to brush off the "Golden Girls" homes idea (often called "Boommate Homes") and make it available to the MEA community.

Furnished rental homes within 15 minutes of Santa Fe offering a deep sense of belonging and all kinds of community amenities. The goal is to create 6-10 homes in the area so this distributed village can create movie nights, morning walks, and all kinds of other group activities.

A SageHouse has been created for long-term stability of a collection of women (and, sometimes, men) who want to live together for an extended period of time. Many women have been talking with their college friends about this for decades and MEA’s active alumni community, regional chapters, and Golden Girls workshops create a magnet for women to find their future housemates.

A ChrysalisHouse has been created to optimize for flexibility and adventure, especially when someone is in the midst of a transition. These homes attract midlifers who may be in a nomadic stage of their lives and don’t want to make a commitment beyond a six-month rental, but who also value the sense of community they experience in a beautifully furnished rental home with like-minded souls.

Lease Options & Benefits:
  • 6-month or 12-month lease available
  • Significant savings for 2-year lease

Frequently Asked Questions

How does early notification work?

When you sign up for early updates, you'll be among the first to receive information about new MEA Homes developments, pricing, availability, and special opportunities. We'll send you updates as significant milestones are reached in each project.

Are these homes open to non-alumni?

MEA Homes are primarily designed for MEA alumni and community members who share our values of connection, growth, and modern elderhood. However, we welcome inquiries from those aligned with the MEA philosophy. Contact us to discuss your interest.

What's the timeline for the different properties?

Timelines vary by project. Baja fractional homes are expected to start construction in the second half of 2026 with completion by early spring 2027. Santa Fe ranch fractional homes are expected to start late 2026 with completion by late 2027. SageHouses are currently available for lease.

How does fractional ownership scheduling work?

Fractional ownership (1/13 share) provides 4 weeks of occupancy per year. Scheduling is coordinated among all 13 owners to ensure fair distribution of prime seasons. On occasion, owners may receive rental income from MEA for popular workshops that need overflow housing.

What are the campus benefits for homeowners?

Benefits vary by location. Baja homeowners enjoy free movement studio access, discounted massages and wellness sessions, free Thursday Pizza Nights, and workshop discounts. Santa Fe homeowners enjoy free gym and trail access, discounted massages, horse boarding options, and community events.

Can I visit before making a decision?

Yes, absolutely – we would love to have you join a tour of the homes and learn more of our vision for MEA Homes. To learn more, sign up for the "Get Early Updates" interest list below and we will reach out to let you know when we are holding public tours.

What are the ongoing costs and HOA fees?

We're still finalizing the details on ongoing costs and HOA fees. Once we have firm numbers, we'll share them with all interested participants. What we can tell you is that our goal is to keep these costs reasonable and transparent, so you'll know exactly what to expect before making any commitments.

If you'd like, we can add you to our interest list to receive updates as soon as this information becomes available. Add your name and email address to our "Get Early Updates" list below to learn more.

Are these MEA Homes only available to affluent people?

MEA appreciates diversity in the community it creates. This is why the initial pricing for the one-bedroom townhomes in the Baja Sage community was less than $200,000. This is also why SageHouses are being created for the middle-class older person in mind as an alternative to a retirement community. With affordable rents, a wide variety of amenities, and a reasonable cap on future rent increases, these homes address the “missing middle” of senior living alternatives. Additionally, the tiny homes that will be built on the Santa Fe ranch will be priced quite accessibly.
