Gain the clarity and courage to live and lead from your deepest values with authentic leadership pioneer Bill George
You want to make a meaningful difference – in your organization, your community, your family, or the world around you. But you're not entirely sure where to start.
Maybe it's because the noise and pressure of daily life have drowned out your own voice. Or because you've been playing so many roles – employee, boss, parent, partner – that you've lost touch with who you really are beneath it all.
You want to live and lead with conviction, but that can be challenging when you have so many competing priorities pulling you in different directions and making it hard for you to remember what really matters most.
And if you do take a stand for what you believe to be right, you’re not sure you’re strong enough to handle the fallout.
Meanwhile, the gap between who you are and who you want to be keeps widening.
You want to be a leader people trust – someone who stands for something real and has the courage to act on it. But how can others trust you when you're not even sure you trust yourself?
So you keep compromising in small ways: staying quiet when you should speak up, going along when you know better, choosing what's safe over what's right. Each time, it gets a little easier to ignore that voice inside telling you something's wrong.
What you need is a way back to yourself – and the courage to lead from there.
Becoming an impactful, values-driven leader requires you to have clarity on who you are at your deepest level – not who others expect you to be, but who you actually are.
You need to understand what truly matters most to you, what you're willing to stand for, and what kind of impact you want to make in the world.
And then you need something even harder: the courage to act on it, and the conviction to make decisions aligned with your values even when it's costly, and the strength to speak up when it matters.
That's exactly what renowned authentic leadership expert Bill George will help you discover during four game-changing days at Rising Circle Ranch in Santa Fe.
Bill George doesn't just teach values-driven leadership. He's proven it works at the highest levels.
Bill George isn't your typical leadership expert. As the former CEO of Medtronic, he grew the company's market capitalization from $1.1 billion to $60 billion—not by chasing quarterly targets or playing corporate politics, but by leading with authenticity, purpose, and unwavering values.
After leaving Medtronic, Bill taught leadership at Harvard Business School for over a decade, where he pioneered the concept of authentic leadership that has become the gold standard for 21st-century leaders. His bestselling book True North has guided hundreds of thousands of leaders worldwide in discovering who they are and finding the courage to lead from that place.
Now he's coming to Rising Circle Ranch to guide you through his proven True North framework – helping you discover who you are at your deepest level and develop the courage to lead from that place.

Meet
Bill George
Former CEO of Medtronic | Harvard Business School Senior Fellow | Bestselling Author of True North
Bill George didn't start out as a leadership expert. He started as an engineer who kept losing elections – six times in college alone. His classmates pulled him aside and told him the hard truth: no one wanted to work with him because he moved so fast he never took time for other people. That painful feedback became a turning point. Bill spent the next year reflecting, changing his approach, and learning that leadership isn't about being the smartest or fastest – it's about relationships, authenticity, and knowing who you are.
That early lesson shaped everything that followed. As CEO of Medtronic from 1991 to 2001, Bill grew the company's market cap from $1.1 billion to $60 billion – not by chasing quarterly targets but by leading with purpose, values, and authenticity. He proved that a leader who stays true to their moral compass can achieve extraordinary results while making a meaningful difference in the world.
After leaving Medtronic, Bill wrote his groundbreaking book Authentic Leadership in 2003, pioneering the framework that would become the gold standard for 21st-century leaders. He then spent over a decade teaching at Harvard Business School, where he continued to develop and refine these concepts with thousands of leaders.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this different from other leadership workshops?
Most leadership programs teach you how to lead others. This one starts with teaching you how to lead yourself. Bill George’s approach isn’t about acquiring new skills or learning the latest management techniques – it’s about discovering who you are at your deepest level and building the courage to lead from that place.
You’ll leave with a Personal Leadership Development Plan grounded in your actual values and purpose, not someone else’s formula for success. This is the framework Bill used to transform Medtronic and has taught at Harvard for over a decade – proven at the highest levels of leadership.
Do I need to be in a formal leadership position to benefit?
No. Bill’s philosophy is that everyone is a leader – whether you’re leading a team at work, raising a family, organizing in your community, or simply trying to lead your own life with integrity. You don’t need a title, direct reports, or a corner office. What you need is the desire to make a meaningful difference and the willingness to do the deep work of self-discovery. The True North framework applies to anyone who wants to live and lead with purpose, courage, and conviction.
What is "True North" and how will I discover mine?
Your True North is your internal moral compass – built on your deepest beliefs, values, and the principles you lead by. It’s unique to you and represents who you are at your core. You’ll discover it through Bill’s proven four-part framework: exploring your life story and crucibles, developing self-awareness and finding your “sweet spot,” learning to lead others as a coach, and building the courage to navigate today’s challenges. This isn’t abstract theory – it’s practical work that results in crystal-clear understanding of who you are and what you stand for.
What's included in the investment?
Everything is included: four days of immersive workshop sessions with Bill George and Chip Conley, your copy of True North and companion workbook, luxury accommodations at Rising Circle Ranch, chef-prepared gourmet meals featuring locally sourced ingredients, and all group experiences – all within an intimate learning environment of just 28 participants. The only additional costs are your travel to Santa Fe and any personal expenses.
How does Bill's approach differ from other leadership experts?
Bill George doesn’t teach leadership theory – he lived it. As CEO of Medtronic, he proved that authentic, values-driven leadership works at the highest levels, growing the company’s market cap from $1.1 billion to $60 billion without compromising his principles.
Unlike leadership programs focused on competencies and skills, Bill’s framework starts with character and self-knowledge. He pioneered the authentic leadership movement that has become the gold standard for 21st-century leaders, shifting the focus from command-and-control to empowerment, from charisma to purpose, from IQ to emotional intelligence.
Will I need to share personal stories in front of the group?
The workshop includes both large group sessions and small, confidential circles of 5-6 people. Bill’s teaching method – proven over decades at Harvard and in executive programs – relies on the transformative power of sharing your story in these intimate settings. Participants consistently report that small group work is the most valuable part of the experience. You’ll be invited to be open and authentic, but you’ll do so in a safe, confidential environment where everyone has committed to the same principles of openness, non-judgment, and trust.
Is this workshop about changing careers or staying where I am?
Neither – and both. Bill’s focus is helping you discover who you are and what you stand for, not dictating what you should do with that knowledge. Some participants realize they need to make a change. Others discover they’re exactly where they need to be but want to lead differently. Many find their “sweet spot” – where their deepest motivations meet their greatest strengths – and make adjustments to get there. The goal isn’t to push you toward or away from anything. It’s to give you the clarity and courage to make the right decisions for yourself.
