“Going Atrium!”

August 11, 2022
The late author Mary Catherine Bateson suggested that our extra longevity doesn’t mean we’ll be older longer. Instead, it means our midlife is extended.

She used the metaphor of a home to describe how society thinks our extra couple of decades of life translates into two more bedrooms in the cramped backyard with no view. But, Bateson says a more positive way to look at our extended longevity is to create a blueprint for a “midlife atrium”— a space in the middle of one’s life when sunlight, air, and spaciousness gives us the room to imagine how to live longer and better lives.

Where will you spend your “midlife atrium” creating a blueprint for your future?

Who will you spend it with?

How will you use this experience to re-create the second half of your adult life?

If you need help with your remodel, there’s an atrium awaiting you in Baja.
