Retire, a Poem.

June 17, 2022
With credit to David Corbett who inspired me with a run-on sentence in his book “Portfolio Life,” here’s what the word “retire” conjures up for me. Tomorrow, I’ll repeat this exercise with the word “regenerate.”

Retire
go
ebb
exit
yield
close
leave
shrink
depart
vacate
retreat
recede
regress
age-out
go away
separate
withdraw
irrelevant
seclusion
surrender
disappear
tranquilize
unoccupied
TV watching
purpose-less
drinking more
out to pasture
rug pulled out
age-apartheid
cease to exist
absent oneself
reflecting regret
going, going, gone…
