The Great Generational Potluck.

May 29, 2023

The cultural symbolism of a potluck isn’t lost on organizational psychologists. We want to create workplaces where everyone symbolically brings what they cook best to the table, and we all are better off for it.

In this recent Fortune magazine interview, I was asked how companies can better promote intergenerational collaboration now that we have five generations in the workplace for the first time. It still surprises me how few companies track and develop age diversity as one of their most important employee demographic metrics.

We also need more generations at the dinner table as we have so much to learn from each other. In that spirit, we launched dinners in Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Fe, and Seattle in our first week last month. Now, we have more than 1,000 people committing to host a Generations Over Dinner event this fall (here’s the link to the app).

When will you be hosting a Generations Over Dinner event? The holidays are a perfect time to do a family version.

P.S. I’m so excited to be joined by my friend Dr. Ken Dychtwald for a free online fireside chat this Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 pm PT. Ken is one of the world’s foremost experts on longevity and I’m sure we’ll have a zesty conversation.
